Need Ideas!!!

Well, we are down to 2 weeks! I decided I should start getting Evan's room ready (well, his half of it anyway!) So far, it's been full of donations for a couple of orphanages so last night I took everything out and now I need some help! What can I do to make it a sweet little boy area???? If anyone has a son and has pictures or ideas of his room, PLEASE leave me a comment. If you read blogs that have sons and they have bedroom pics, please let me know!

Dylan is sharing a room with Evan and his side is done in hockey stuff , cool framed photos of Dylan, sport stuff, etc...I want to try and make Evan's side more "Evan" which is hard since I don't know anything about him :-) I also want to make it "younger" for Evan. Seriously, I would love some help here!!!!

Decorating for the girls' room was a breeze...I just can't seem to find anything for a boy's room!

Hey Tammy!

Not sure if you have anything in mind but a friend of mine bought one of these for her sons room:

This link is for an Africa one, but apparently this lady will make some of any country - I was thinking China for you! Something like this might be nice on his wall above his bed, or as a main focal point. When we adopt a boy, I may just get the Africa one too!

Anyways...just an idea I wanted to throw out there. Can't wait to see photos of his room when you are finished doing it! I also hope you get the letter soon!!!

Hi Tammy,

I'd definitely put up pictures of him on his side. Just make them b & w if it'd look better for th e overall scheme. You could also have a few small photos of he and his friends somewhere, if you have or get the opportunity to take some (just have the frames ready to go so it'll be one less thing for later and have Alyssa and the boys draw pictures?). We put up a family photo of all of us the day after we got home and Garnet really liked seeing us "all together".

A cool personal bedside lamp or night light might help him if he needs to have a bit of control and the security of knowing he can do it himself (I have a cute covered one from IKEA that is screwed onto the wall so that the child can't burn themselves and it's quite dim so it might not bother your other son.

Also, what are the main colours of Dylan's bedding, etc. Maybe you could piggyback off of that to add some decals or bedding, etc.

I'm praying moment by moment that things work out in the right timing for everyone involved.

Take time to breathe. :) He'll be home soon.

Hey Tammy, what about doing a dragon theme - I was thinking you could probably purchase a number of dragon type items while in China. Just a thought. Looking forward to hearing what you do decide on. Hoping that you receive the good news about your letter very soon!

Hi Tammy,
For Lily's room, I painted it a soft green, went to Micheal's and bought these little wooden bumble bees and lady bugs, and flowers and pigs etc... they were already painted, I just hot glue gunned (DON'T tell my husband) ;) them on the wall at eye level, for Linlin, who will be sharing a room with Lily, I'll use the jungle animals on his side, and we're adding a fish tank when he arrives.

I HOPE HOPE HOPE your letter arrives soon!!!

Hey Tammy,

I have two little guys. My 5 year old has a traffic theme going, and I have trucks and stop signs and stuff over one wall, and through it I have his name in those wooden letters. Then we just have shelves with frames that are higher up, and a growth chart. Not sure if that helps! My little guy is 3 and he has the bugs theme going, again with the sticky things on the walls! But I also have his name in the wooden letters for when we change up the room! The bedding is firetrucks for both of them, and that was from winners. They usually have some cute beddding sets there! Good luck!

To add to the traffic theme - We hot glue gunned a brio figure 8 train track on the wall, complete with the train glued to the track. This gave a 3D effect to the transportation theme. I also found some neat kiddie screw together model airplanes that I hung from the ceiling. They were bright colours. I bought some nice larger model cars that could sit up on a shelf.

Praying for you Tammy!
